What is a motorconformer for?

bulldozer or a motor grader as is also known in the market, is a machine used in the field of construction and has a long metal sheet known as the blade which is used to level the land on which it works. The main objective or purpose of the mower is to be able to level and refine the bases and sub-bases of the land, as well as patios and platforms.

Formers have a host of different and important uses. In some parts of the world, most motor graders are used mainly for the proper maintenance that the roads must have . The large blade that motor graders have, makes it especially useful to improve or create the width on the roads. Formers can also be used to clean or erase a waste area, as well as to move materials from one place to another.

It is also capable of profiling slopes in embankments and cuttings , as well as in road ditches , using the degree of inclination that is needed, since the central blade has the ability to tilt to the right or left, vertically almost at 90 degrees. and then rotate horizontally . It is considered one of the most complete machines and the correct handling of this machine requires a high degree of specialization due to its multiple uses and functions .

Characteristics

The main characteristics of motor graders are the following:

  • The motor grader has the ability to perform the refinement of slopes with different inclinations .

  • A motor grader generally has an engine that has a power of about 120 to 200 hp and blade so generally has a width of work of 3.8 m.
  • It is heavy and complex equipment so safety measures must be followed during its use.

History

The first graders were driven by horses or oxen , and were built on simple steel frames equipped with wheels and a blade that had a fixed angle.  The first documented grader of this type was invented in 1885 by Joseph D. Adams in Indianapolis and was named the ‘ Little Wonder ‘, and made use of the inclined wheel principle , with two wooden wheels that can be tilted to one side. .

In the early 1890s, Adams managed to create his own company and managed to create a wide range of construction machinery , including levelers. In 1896, the company launched a motor grader wheel with traction horse with a sheet of 8 feet and four wheels instead of two. This model was nicknamed the «King of the road» .

Parts of a motor grader

The parts that a motor grader has are the following:

  • Drawbar : goes in the front of the tractor and serves as a support for the blade.
  • Ring : sprocket mounted horizontally on the drawbar.
  • Lifting cylinders : they are two mounted vertically on the rotating collar of the frame that allow the blade to be raised or penetrated.
  • Cross Cylinder – Connects the swivel collar to the drawbar and facilitates vertical and lateral blade positioning.
  • Sheet : it is a concave sheet transverse to the machine. The front face makes contact with the materials and the rear face has the elements that allow the movements of the blade.
  • Moldboard Foot – The forward-most end of the blade and is the end closest to the front wheels of the machine.
  • Moldboard heel : this is the rear end of the blade and the one that is closest to the wheels of the machine.
  • Scarifier:  tool with very strong analog teeth that can be dug up to 7-8 inches deep

How a motorconformer works

The molding machines are machines that are self-propelled and have a central blade that is responsible for cutting or scraping the ground, accumulating the material and then being able to take it to another place. The knife or blade has the ability to be raised for proper transfer, and then it can return to its initial working position .

It can also acquire an angle of inclination transversely to discharge excess material to one side or to form speed bumps and similar work or vertically to increase the angle of incidence of the blade.
