Diego Dionisio Luna Alexander , better known as Diego Luna , is a Mexican actor who is well known for his work in children’s soap operas , for a leading role in the film “Y tu mama tambien” , and for having performed a series of supporting roles in various American movies. Luna has also played minor roles in films such as Frida and Before Night Falls. Currently, he is working on important projects around Latin America and the United States.

Biography of Diego Luna

Diego Luna Alexander was born on December 29, 1979 in Mexico City , Mexico. His father Alejandro Luna, a famous set designer is of Mexican origin and his mother Fiona Alexander , was an important fashion designer of British nationality, of Scottish and English descent. His mother died when Diego was just two years old, in a car accident. Soon he was immersed in the passion and entertainment of his father, Mexico’s most acclaimed famous theater, film and opera set designer.

From an early age he began his acting work, performing in television , film and theater . His first television role was in the movie The Last End of the Year, recorded in 1991. He had an important role in the Mexican soap opera called El abuelo y yo . After this soap opera, Diego began to receive more and more acting roles in theater, film and television. His big break came in 2001 when he was chosen to work in the cast of the movie ” Y tu mama tambien “, where he was highly acclaimed by critics, and in which he worked again with his best friend Gael García Bernal .

In 2008 he married Camila Sodi , a Mexican actress with whom he had two children: Jerónimo and Fiona , however, the couple decided to divorce in 2013. He is currently in a relationship with the model Suki Waterhouse , Bradley Cooper’s ex-partner.

He made several films of Mexican production such as “Un Hilito De Sangre” in 1995 and “Todo El Poder” in 1999. It should be noted that Luna made her debut in American cinema in the film entitled “Before Night Falls” in the year 2000.
