In this country, the movement was born in 1836 . It arose as a result of the influence of the Lateran Academy and a project that existed that had the purpose of the Mexicanization of literature. The development of this genre in Mexico had two great moments, the first between the years 1836 and 1870 when the manners manifestations tried to influence the formation of a totally Mexican identity and a second moment between the years 1870 and 1890 when the costumbrismo took more importance in novels as a means of criticizing the life and customs of the place.

Dominican custom
