The origin of corporate social responsibility dates back to 1953 and was created by Howard R. Bowen , an American economist who is given the title of father of CSR thanks to his work known as “ Social Responsibility of the Businessmen ” . In this work, he appealed to the social responsibility possessed by the different corporations in terms of the production of goods , services and their return to society, which they had provided.

Starting in 1970 , other authors such as Archie Carroll , included definitions of the responsibilities of companies, defining them as legal , economic , ethical and philanthropic , giving more importance to ethics, since it was classified as a continuation of legality.
