What does the communicative process consist of?

Communication is a dynamic process that consists of the conceptualization of ideas by the sender , ideas that are then transmitted in the message through a channel until reaching the receiver , who at the same time provides feedback either through a message. or a signal within the given time frame.

  • Non-verbal communication: Non-verbal communication is the sending or receiving of messages without using words. In other words, it is communication that is not oral or written , such as gestures , body language , posture , tone of voice or facial expressions . Non-verbal communication has to do with the body language of the person speaking.

  • Sender : the sender or communicator is the person who starts the conversation and who has conceptualized the idea that he or she is trying to transmit.
  • Encoding : The sender begins the encoding process using words or non-verbal methods , such as symbols, signs, body gestures, etc. to translate the information in a message .
  • Message : after encoding, the sender receives the message he is trying to transmit , which can be written , oral, non-verbal , or it can be any other signal that triggers the response of a receiver.
  • Communication channel : it is the means used to transmit the message. It must be chosen carefully so that the message is effective and well interpreted by the recipient. This channel will depend on the relationships between the sender and the receiver and the urgency of the message.
  • Receiver : is the person to whom the message is addressed . Try to understand the message to achieve proper communication. In understanding the message depends on the knowledge of the subject, experience , trust and relationship with the sender.
  • Decoding : it occurs when the message is interpreted and the receiver looks for how to interpret it in the best possible way.
  • Feedback : it is the last step in the communication process that ensures that the receiver has received the message and has interpreted it correctly .

Phases of the communication process

The phases of the communication process are as follows:

  • Development of the idea to be transmitted.
  • Coding of the message by choosing the type of language to be used by the sender and receiver.
  • Transmission of messages , including the language, format and code that has been selected. This transmission is made through the channel that has been selected.
  • Receipt of the message by the receiver through the established channel. The receiver must be willing to receive the message.
  • in Decryption where the receiver is able to understand and decipher the message, decodes it and knows what is being talked about.
  • Acceptance that occurs after the message has been received and interpreted.
  • Use of the message by taking actions or measures .
  • Feedback that implies the closure of the communicative process, and that includes the receiver’s response.

Barriers

There are three types of barriers that can affect the communication process, and these are:

  • Internal : it occurs when there is an obstacle that comes from the same person.
  • External : occurs when the obstacle comes from the environment where the communication process is carried out.
  • Interpersonal : this type of barrier comes from the people who are in charge of intervening in the communication process.

Importance

Communication is important for the human being because it is the way that man has to communicate with others and express ideas. It is through this process that the information is transferred in order to satisfy the needs.
