The backhoe is an industrial and mechanical machine that is used to achieve large excavations in all types of terrain. It has an excavation bucket located at the end of an articulated arm in two different parts. Typically this arm is attached to the back of a tractor and is used on earthworks, for construction, piping, and drainage.

The backhoe is a machine that has the purpose and use of making large excavations of earth in places where it is necessary to create a foundation , place pipes or drains . It is a bucket placed on the end of a tractor arm.

What is the backhoe for?

Backhoes are used to carry out earth excavation processes , different types of trench openings for the placement of pipes and drains are used to make deep holes that will later be filled, for example, the foundations of houses and buildings. They are widely used in general construction as they provide speed and quality. In building demolitions, to break the asphalt of the streets and to achieve an adequate paving process in large and small cities. They are widely used in places where the use of some equipment is not useful. In addition, they are a precise source of cost and time reduction in the different works in which they are used.

Backhoe Features

  • It consists of an assembly of three different pieces of mobile land equipment: a tractor , a loader, and a backhoe .
  • Allows tools to move quickly and safely .
  • It can carry large amounts of material depending on the size of the container.
  • It is designed primarily for excavating terrain .
  • The container where the material is deposited is known as a ladle .
  • The backhoe itself has three parts: the bucket , the stick, and the boom .
  • It is also known by the name of mechanical shovel .

History

In 1950, the well-known crawler tractor was used in construction . This instrument had proven to be a very useful piece of equipment, however, the experts of the companies were looking for ways to increase its usefulness , efficiency and versatility . At that time the company Essex located in England and known by the name of Whitlock Bros . He assured his customers and the world that they had succeeded in creating the world’s first backhoe loader. The company had created an accessory called Dinjum Digger , and conducted a series of experiments in 1951. Later, the company incorporated a hydraulic loaderthus creating the first backhoe loader . Joseph Cyril Bamford , was the founder of the JBC company and had extensive experience in the construction of hydraulic loaders. On a trip to Norway he saw the great potential of the backhoe, bought one and brought it to his place of residence to test its capabilities. In 1953, he had managed to improve the design and had built the first accessory included in the machine. It manufactured the product as the JBC MK1 and in 1958, it was able to launch the first integrated backhoe loader.

Parties

The parts that make up a backhoe are:

  • Point of connection between the arm and the boom.
  • Bucket hydraulic cylinder.
  • Articulation link.
  • Rolling trains.
  • Chassis or frame.
  • Engine compartment.
  • Operator’s cab.
  • Boom or boom hydraulic cylinders.
  • Boom or boom.
  • Arm hydraulic cylinder.

Types of backhoe

The excavator bucket are also known by the name of shovels or spades mechanical . They are used for vertical type excavations, in the production of wells and in mining. They can be mounted on tires or on tracks and have the ability to rotate on themselves with the help of an axis of up to 360º.

Another type of backhoes are hydraulic excavators . Its price is more accessible and its power is the same. Unlike mechanical shovels, they work on the ground from top to bottom and are faster when loading material. The shovel bucket is upward and can discharge from a higher height. It is used mostly in mining .

How do you operate a backhoe?

Backhoe works as a normal type of excavator and digging in the direction opposite of the vehicle . They are controlled hydraulically . The machine is stabilized by means of legs that are in charge of reducing the tension by sending the weight towards the machine and the tires. It works thanks to the tractor driver . First, the standing assembly in the required place, it is parked the tractor and rotates the driver seat toward a front. In this position, the driver can choose whether to deploy thestabilizer legs when the tractor is not on solid ground, or if you avoid this step when the ground is stable enough . After the backhoe is in the correct position, the operator or driver manipulates the controls by means of levers, one works to move the boom and the other is to move the stick out of the bucket .
